Furniture & personal items
At the discretion of the Proprietors, residents are free to bring with them, any articles, furniture or personal items that they wish.

Pets
We have two resident dogs. Residents may bring their pets with them at the discretion of the Proprietor and subject to all animals getting along together. Come along for an informal chat to discuss the needs of your pet. Willan House is a member of the Cinnamon Trust - a national charity supporting the elderly and their pets.

Trial period
In the interest of both our prospective residents and Willan House, we feel that a trial period of one month is essential for mutual assessment. NB: During this period, we advise you not to take any irrevocable steps, such as selling your house or cancelling your tenancy, until you are certain that you wish to stay on a permanent basis and your acceptance has been formally confirmed by the home.

Insurance
Willan House has a Comprehensive Insurance Policy which provides cover for the personal belongings of each resident up to a maximum of £2,000. This excludes cash, for which no responsibility is accepted. Safe facilities are available for use by residents, for cash and small items of value. If more extensive cover is required, this must be arranged by the resident on a private basis.

Fees
Your fees are payable in advance every four weeks. This will be reviewed from time to time in line with increases in State Benefits. Residents relying on State Benefits normally make appropriate administrative with the proprietor. Willan House is not a Nursing Home. The fees you pay will cover 24 hour care, all meals and formal laundry. The fees do not include chiropody charges or personal expenses. The fees do include assisting residents to attend normal hospital appointments, or visits to the dentist or optician. They do not include assisting with visits to the hairdresser or chiropodist outside the home.

Leaving the home
With the exception of one month trial period, a resident must give us four weeks notice of their intention to leave the home. Likewise, the Proprietor will be required to give a minimum of four weeks notice if it becomes necessary to ask a resident to leave, either on medical grounds or for the sake of harmony with other residents. We must stress that this action will only be taken in exceptional circumstances and never without full consultation with the residents ands their relatives.
